Stepping out: Pamela Stephenson and James Jordan start their perfect Quickstep routine on Strictly's second semi-final show

Pamela Stephenson did an astonishing double tonight by scoring straight 10s on Strictly for the second week in a row.

After straight 10s last week for their elegant waltz, this week, Pamela and her dance partner James Jordan landed perfect marks again for their Quickstep.

Even Craig Revel Horwood didn't have a bad word about the comedienne-turned-psychologist's performance, saying simply: 'One word, three syllables, starts with "f". Fab-u-lous!'

Faultless: Craig Revel Horwood declared their performance simply 'fabulous'

Pamela, 61, and James, 32, took to the floor wearing matching top hat and tails and brandishing canes.

But soon into the routine, she threw off her hat, flung away her cane and removed her jacket to reveal a sequin leotard with a pink skirt.

Flying around the floor to the strains of Irving Berlin's classic Stepping Out With My Baby, Pamela's faultless efforts also earned her a standing ovations from the audience - including her husband Billy Connolly.

Straight 10s: Pamela and James were delighted when they swept the board with the judges' marks

In a chorus of praise from the judges, Len Goodman said 'You are a class act and that was brilliant' while Alesha Dixon gushed 'I just want to say you're an inspiration for so many women and for me, that makes you a winner.'

A grinning Bruno Tonioli added: 'The Broadway babe! It was a beautiful correct quickstep, pure cinematic joy.'

Chemistry: Kara Tointon and her dance partner Artem Chigvintsev were nearly perfect in their raunchy rhumba

Sensual: Kara gets lost in emotion before the judges in her smouldering Rhumba

Kara Tointon, 27, meanwhile replicated her success in last night's live show - the first of three Strictly semi shows over the weekend - with a near-perfect score of 39 for her Rhumba.

The dance sizzled with chemistry between the former EastEnders star and her dance partner Artem Chigvintsev, 28.

Unusually dancing to an instrumental, the pair showed off the sizzling chemistry that has led to speculation about their relationship off screen.

Emotional: Kara and Artem seemed almost oblivious to the fact they were being watched by an estimated audience of 14 million

Landing another standing ovation from the audience, Alesha said the dance had been 'mesmerising.'

She added: 'It was pure magic, I really loved it.'

Bruno meanwhile gushed: 'That was ravishing darling, you are a goddess of love. The quality of your dancing is of a standard that's professional. This was brilliant' and Len agreed, saying: Len: 'You're not supposed to dance that well! It was knockout, well done!'

But typically, there was a note of caution from Craig, who said: 'Almost perfect. If you hadn't put that lift in, I may have dusted off my 10.'

The pair remained on the top of the leaderboard, ahead of Pamela and James.

Elsewhere, Matt Baker landed a score of 38, Gavin Henson managed 38, Scott Maslen 35 and Gavin Henson getting the fewest votes again with 31.

The two couples with the lowest totalled points out of the five pairs remaining will leave in a double elimination Sunday night ahead of next weekend's final.

Current EastEnder's star Scott Maslen, 40, was first to dance on the show, taking to the floor in a sailor's outfit accompanied by dance partner Natalie Lowe, 30.

Crest of a wave: Scott Maslen and Natalie Lowe landed a high score for their chirpy Charleston

Hello sailor: Scott and Natalie finished the show in the middle of the leader board

Dancing the Charleston, the pair bounced around the floor to Cole Porter's Anything Goes.

They landed a high-marking thumbs-up from the judges - with a few quibbles.

Len was positive, saying: 'It was such good fun and high energy, well done', as was the ever-chirpy Alesha, who grinned: 'That was good old fashioned entertainment and it was nice to see the goofy side of you coming out, Scott!'

Meanwhile, Bruno quipped: 'After seven months at sea, you found the flapper and you were ready for action! It's all about entertainment, exuberance and comedy and you did that very well.'

Predictably, Craig had some criticisms, however. He chided: 'The opening sequence was a little bit nebulous and you overbalanced on the dip. But overall, I thought the whole thing was rather cute and quirky and I rather enjoyed it.'

Red hot: Matt Baker and Aliona Vilani ignited the floor with Latin passion in their Tango

Next up with Countryfile and One Show presenter Matt Baker, 32, who was hoping to make amends for his worst-ever score of just 28 out of 40 on the semi final opening night.

Dancing the Tango with partner Aliona Vilani, 26, he said in the rehearsal video shown before their routine: 'Every single part of my being is committed to winning this thing' - and his determination and passion shone through.

Dancing to Madonna's Hung Up in a gangster-style pinstriped suit, he landed yet another standing ovation from the audience.

It takes two: The pair more than made up for their disappointing scores in the first semi final show

Bruno enthused afterwards: 'Strong, powerful with a hint of arrogance - you were like a South American dictator! This dance suits you, you've done very very well.'

Craig was impressed too, though he said he felt the lifts were unnecessary. But he added: 'I thought you danced that with military precision. Wonderful.'

Len however couldn't find fault. He said: 'Tonight, you were cooking on gas! You have come out on fire, I loved it. Great job, fabulous.''

Alesha added: 'Powerful, driven, determined, you did take a beating last night, Matt, but you've come out and proved you deserve to be in the final.'

An out-of-breath and sweaty Matt said afterwards: 'It's been a difficult day to keep my head focused. I'm just so happy to have got through it not to have messed up.'

However, there was loud booing from the audience when the judges gave their marks and Craig and Bruno failed to give him top marks and awarded him nine points each.

Graceful: Gavin Henson, with partner Katya Virshilas, landed praise from Len for the footwork in his Viennese Waltz

Next up was was rugby player Gavin Henson, 28, who was looking very smart in white tie and tails, to dance the Viennese Waltz with partner Katya Virshilas, 27.

Floating around the floor to Robbie Williams's You Know Me, Craig slated Gavin afterwards for being out of time.

Len vehemently disagreed and said that actually, Gavin was his 'hero'.

Smooth: Gavin was praised for his improvement week by week on the show

The head judge insisted: 'Good footwork, you had it, good posture, you had it. You lost a bit of musicality but overall it was very good. You have been the underdog over and over, you are my hero, you come back strong week after week.'

Bruno concurred, saying: 'Very elegant very smooth, yes there were little issues but you should be proud, you've done very well tonight.'

Fighting spirit: The rugby star was also praised for taking knocks but coming back stronger every week

The discrepancy between Craig and Len was displayed in their marking - with Craig giving Gavin six and Len nine.

It meant Gavin was firmly cemented at the bottom of the leader board following the departure of its permanent fixture, Anne Widdcombe, last week.

Take That meanwhile closed the show with a live performance of their recent hit single The Flood - before Robbie Williams raced away from the studio to perform She's The One on The X Factor live final with One Direction.

Sunday's Strictly results show, when this year's finalists are revealed, is on BBC1 at 7pm.

Sent packing: Cher Lloyd was given the boot from the X Factor tonight in the first part of the weekend's final showdown, seen here being consoled by host Dermot O'Leary and mentor Cheryl Cole

- Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction through to tomorrow's grand finale

- Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Robbie Williams and will.i.am join final four on stage

- But Christina and Rihanna raise eyebrows with very racy pre-watershed solo performances

After coming in the bottom two twice during the contest, she knew her chances of winning were slim.

And tonight Cher Lloyd saw her X Factor dream come to an end as she was sent packing in the first part of the weekend's final showdown.

The 17-year-old hopeful from Malvern, Worcestershire, was the bookie's favourite to face the chop tonight and, predictably, received the least number of viewer votes, sealing her fate.

Battling for the X Factor crown: The judges watch on as the three remaining acts stood in a line on the stage, from left, Matt, Rebecca and One Direction

It now means Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson and boyband One Direction will battle to win the show on tomorrow night's grand finale.

For what turned out to be her last stand, Cher performed two songs, kicking off with a mash-up of The Belle Stars Clapping Song and Missy Elliot Get Ur Freak On.

She then shared the stage with Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am, starting with Where Is The Love before duetting on the band's more recent hit I Got A Feelin'.

Good news: Rebecca Ferguson and Matt Cardle react with relief after being given the news that they have made it to tomorrow's final showdown

We're through: One Direction hug mentor Simon Cowell as they are given the good news

Cher held it together and refrained from turning on the water works as she thanked everyone for their support over the course of the contest as she was given the news.

'Thank you to everybody that ever believed in me,' she said.

'My highlight is standing on this stage with will.i.am and I thank everyone who arranged that for me and to him.'

'Perfect collaboration': Cher took to the stage with Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am, performing I Gotta Feeling after kicking off solo with Where Is The Love

Cher has come in the bottom two twice and no act in the show's history has managed to clinch the X Factor crown after coming in this position during the contest.

However, despite her disappointment, the teenager is still on course to get a record contract.

Her mentor Cheryl Cole has described her as the 'future generation of music' while Simon Cowell is also a big fan.

Earlier in the week it was reported that the music mogul hasn't ruled out giving recording contracts to all the acts in the final four.

Take That: Robbie Williams joined One Direction on stage as they duetted on his song She's The One

The first act to be given the good news tonight that she was through to tomorrow's final was Rebecca Feguson, who reacted by saying: 'Oh my God,' and clasping her hand to her mouth.

One Direction were then put through, jumping in the air as they were given the all clear, shortly followed by Matt.

Cher shared the stage with Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am for her duet piece.

Described by mentor Cheryl as the 'perfect collaboration', the pair performed I Gotta Feelin after Cher kicked off with Where Is The Love.

Double act: Rebecca was joined on stage by American superstar Christina Aguilera, but became so overwhelmed she lost her lyrics at one point during their rendition of Beautiful

The duo jumped around the stage, which was lit up with a laser display, as they belted out the hit song together.

'That was possibly the best thing I've ever done in my life,' Cher said afterwards.
One Direction performed their second song of the night - She's The One - with Robbie Williams.

The Take That star made his way on to stage midway through the track, before giving all the members a high-five.

At the end the Robbie shouted: The lads, One Direction, phone in'
He said it felt 'really special' to perform with the guys 'at the start of their journey,' adding: 'I know exactly how it feels.'

He then joked with the lads, saying: 'Which one's the Robbie of the band.'

Rebecca Ferguson's star guest was Christina Aguilera, although she appeared to be overwhelmed by the superstar's onstage presence.

Going solo: Later on in the show Rihanna performed her new hit What's My Name, stripping down to a saucy bikini-inspired outfit

As Christina descended the staircase, Rebecca missed her cue and appeared a little shaky.

Afterwards she was equally lost for words, only managing to say: 'I'm made up' while a full-figured Christina commended Rebecca for being a 'unique talent'.

Later Christina performed the song Express from her new film Burlesque, which she is currently promoting across Europe, but raised temperatures as she cavorted around the stage in her lingerie and put on a provocative pre-watershed display with her army of scantily clad female dancers.

Matt Cardle's second song of the night was Rihanna's Unfaithful, where he was joined on stage by the diva herself.

Ready to be entertained: The X Factor judge emerge on to the stage, from left Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell

Dressed in their best: Cheryl looked stunning in an off-white dress with sequins while Dannii donned a deep red tiered number

After singing the first part solo, he was joined on stage by the hit RnB star as the stage was lit up in a blaze of flames.

They then took it in turns to sing a line each, with Rihanna wearing a full-length black dress with curly red hair as she performed some sultry dance moves up close next to an enamoured Matt.

Later she gave a solo rendition of her new song What's My Name, stripping down to a saucy bikini-inspired outfit.

Cher Lloyd got her swagger on, performing a mash-up of The Belle Stars Clapping Song and Missy Elliot Get Ur Freak On, complete with an army of backing dancers.

With the fans: Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills talks to Cher's former headteacher in her hometown of Malvern, Worcestershire

Cowell gave her high praise afterwards, telling her: 'Using one of Cheryl's expressions I'm going to say you smashed that.

'This is why I am happy we put you through. You are my favourite little brat with a heart of gold. My favourite performance of yours so far.'

Mentor Cheryl added: 'I saw something in you Cher the second you walked in that audition room. You are here in the final tonight no matter what controversy you've faced and I hope to see you smashing it again.'

Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills was getting mobbed by the crowds in Cher's hometown of Malvern in Worcestershire, where he spoke to the contestant's former headmaster and friends.

Mania: Corrie star Michelle Keegan was reporting live from One Direction star Louis Tomlinson's hometown of Doncaster in South Yorkshire

'I have thoroughly enjoyed you guys growing every week and I think you deserve to be standing on that stage tomorrow night,' Cheryl told them afterwards.

To deafening screams from the audience, Simon added: 'After hearing the first two performances tonight, Matt and Rebecca, my heart was sinking. They were so good.

'But you guys gave it a thousand per cent. I really hope people pick up their phone and vote for you.'

Corrie star Michelle Keegan was reporting live from band member Louis Tomlinson's hometown of Doncaster in South Yorkshire.

Emotional: Rebecca Ferguson performed Like A Star for her first offering of the night, which received huge cheers from the crowd and wowed the judges

However she appeared to get confused with her names, asking the crowd if they were proud of Liam Payne.

The outside broadcast ended with the actress getting lost from view amid the crowd.
Second to perform with her first offering of the night was Rebecca Ferguson with Like A Star by soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae.

The single mother of two, 24, received huge cheers from the audience afterwards and the judges were equally bowled over.

Heartfelt words: Judge Cheryl Cole became tearful as she told Rebecca: 'I respect you not just as a recording artist but as a woman'

Revving up the crowds: Fellow Liverpudlian and Cheryl's WAG pal Coleen Rooney was reporting live from crazy scenes in Rebecca's hometown of Liverpool

'You are an absolute beauty,' Dannii told her. 'This is the start of your confidence believing in yourself, you so deserve this.'

Cowell told her: 'You look absolutely beautiful tonight,' adding: 'Most importantly why I adore you is that you have one heck of recording voice and you are fantastic role model.'

Mentor Cheryl became tearful as she told Rebecca: I have so much respect for you not just as a recording artist but as a woman.'

On form: Matt was the first of the final to perform, with a rendition of Dido's Here With Me where he played the guitar and was backed by a string orchestra

Matt Cardle was the first of the final four to perform, singing the Dido hit Here With Me. Beforehand video footage was shown of his emotional homecoming visit to Essex earlier in the week.

He was seen breaking down next to his tearful father, as mentor Dannii joined him in his parents' living room.

Still battling a sore throat, Cardle wowed with his efforts with Louis Walsh telling him: You are a very ordinary guy with a very extraordinary voice. You absolutely have to be in the final tomorrow night.'

Cowell added: 'You are still not feeling great but I have to tell you that was a fantastic song choice, right on the money.'

Mentor Dannii then chipped in: 'I just want to take this moment to say thank you for the hardwork you've put in over the last weeks. No one has worked harder.'

Former X Factor finalist and Queen of the Jungle Stacey Solomon was live with the crowds from Matt's hometown of Colchester.

Crazy scenes: Fans line the streets of Matt's hometown of Colchester in Essex where former X Factor finalist Stacey Solomon was presenting coverage - although she was not in shot during the entire outside broadcast

However the I'm A Celebrity winner was nowhere to be seen, with only her rambling voice being heard over manic scenes of cheering crowds.

The show kicked off with the final 16 contestants of this year's series taking to the stage, performing a group rendition of Eighties hit What A Feeling from the 1983 film Flashdance.

It included a rapping sequence from Cher Lloyd, as well as interludes from controversial contestants Wagner and Katie Waissel.

Earlier the four X Factor judges took their seats, ready to be entertained.

Cheryl Cole looked stunning in a floor length white dress while Danny Minogue played it sexy in a red fishtail gown.

Hard at work: Jennifer Lopez arrived on the of American Idol in Pasadena, California, today

At the tender age of three, Jennifer Lopez's twins are already familiar with the showbiz world after making their modelling debut with Gucci earlier this year.

And today the toddlers continued their induction into the family business with a visit to the set of American Idol.

Max and Emme accompanied their mother to work as she continued taping auditions in Pasadena, California.

The singer and actress was dressed in a black coat and gold spikey Christian Louboutin heels and chatted on her mobile phone as she made her way into the studio

Her children, who both have dark curly hair, looked stylish too with Max wearing jeans and a plaid shirt while his sister wore a grey frock.

As Jennifer got to work on the judging panel alongside Randy Jackson and fellow newcomer Steven Tyler, a nanny took the twins to a local shopping centre to keep them occupied.

Curly-haired cuties: Twins Max and Emme were also seen on the set

While the Jenny From The Block star is thrilled about her new role, not everyone is convinced she is the right person for the job.

Kiss rocker Gene Simmons said this week that she isn't worthy of being an American Idol judge.

'I don't think Jennifer Lopez is going to mean a thing,' the musician told OK! magazine.

Cool kid: Little Max was dressed in jeans, a plaid shirt and sneakers

'Because you can dance and stuff, you don't write songs, your own records... I don't take her seriously as being able to spot new talent. So, you can sing, you can dance, that's nice.'

Unsurprisingly, Simmons considers himself more suitable for the position.
'In terms of qualifications I’m the governor,' Simmons added.

However, American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe is convinced both Lopez and Tyler will do a better job that former judge Simon Cowell.

'[Jennifer and Steven] are artists, so there isn't this attitude of, "Are you going to make me money? Are you going to make my company money?'" he says.

'They haven't got this attitude - you know, Simon, bless him, hated country music. So as soon as a country singer came in, he turned off straight away and they weren't going to go anywhere.'

Season 10 of the hit TV talent show is set to air in the U.S. in January.

Fun: Fearne had a fab day out on the ice and tweeted that watching her pal skate was 'funniest thing'

She is known for her fabulous fashion sense.

So it came as no surprise that Fearne Cotton was looking rather lovely all rugged up as she took to the ice yesterday.

Feeling festive the 29-year-old radio presenter took her work buddies ice skating wearing a faux fur animal print jacket.

Fashionista: Wearing a cosy-looking animal print coat, lacy tights and knitted hat Fearne looked lovely

Teaming her cosy outerwear with lacy tights, she covered up her on-trend dipped locks with a brown knitted beanie.

But it seems the trip to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park wasn’t just a photo opportunity, Fearne was being a good friend too.

Her work colleague Stuey had never been on an ice rink and Fearne made sure he didn’t miss out on the winter sport.

Skills: Fearne keeps her composure as Stuey skates past. Laughing so much at his ice skating gave her a headache

But she didn’t let the opportunity pass without having a good laugh at her pal’s attempts to skate.

She tweeted: ‘Took Stuey my radio producer ice skating today as he had NEVER been. Funniest thing I've seen. I gave myself a headache from laughing.’

But despite being a good friend to her producer pal, the Very fashion designer has admitted she is ‘obscenely jealous’ of best pal Holly Willoughby.

Best friends: Fearne Cotton revealed she is 'obscenely jealous' that best friend Holly Willoughby is pregnant with her second child

In an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine Cotton revealed that she is ‘unbelievably broody’ and her desire to have a family of her own has been heightened since Holly announced she is expecting her second child.

She also admitted she is envious of Holly’s curvy figure.

Fearne said: ‘She has boobs to die for. I have to stuff my bra or wear a big padded bra one.’

But despite the differences between the girls, they remain incredibly close and Fearne revealed she is keen for Holly to plan her wedding.

Fearne has only been engaged to skater boyfriend Jesse Jenkins for a few months but knows that her pal will be in charge on the big day.

She said: 'I can’t believe I’m ever going to be able to organise a wedding. I’m going to make Holly do it. She’s the super-planner and I’m the most disorganised girl in the world. If it ever happens, it’ll be because Holly makes it happen.'
