Why do I have some weird feeling that they will update the entire product line at WWDC?
If they did, it could work out quite well from a marketing point of view. However, I doubt it will all happen at WWDC. Maybe around September.
Apple iPod touch (4thJust confirmed it with BLT, there hasn't been a shipment come in.
Seems like they're offline until Monday....
ipod touch 4 generation 8gb.I agree that the convergence of data cap limits by commodity access providers and the evolving cloud of data are directly at odds, but ultimately the way around that will come from large grid wifi solution. Google has already started trying to do this.. and they and others will eventually make it happen the less available the current home and wiress providers are... You will be able to get wireless access in most places for free and use as much data as you want... The way the current bandwidth providers are going, it is absolutely going to happen.
They are going to essentially create their own demise. Yes bandwidth usage is going up, but the providers need to figure out how to keep up and stay with the changing times. Instead they are going in the opposite direction. These concerns about having all your data in the cloud and then streaming it is legitimate given current and future caps by providers... Like I said though, ultimately it will be blown off by a consortium of the content providers who want people to access them as much as possible. The commodity providers either will have to catch up or be cut out.
are 4th generation iPodIt wouldn't blow me away for Apple to have an ARM OS X running somewhere in there laps, hell OS X ran on intel from day one.
But any chance of release seems unlikely until ARM locks down a solid preforming CPU. Although is Apple and Microsoft come up with a good was to have x86 and ARM support in one OS, then both chips throughout Apple line might makes sense.
For now, I see Apple being too close(developing Thunderbold, getting chips early) to leave Intel.
Apple iPod Touch 4thAs for prices, any word on compatibility with 3rd party Ram and internal hard drives ?
You can't possibly run a Pro rig on a meager 1 Gb of Ram, and Apple charges 1100$ for a the minimum 4 gig upgrade  .
Also, the new HD slots look kinda custom...
Without non-Apple options, the real price of the new desktops will make them very expensive for serious users, at least for early adopters.

All this talk about income taxes is all the MORE reason why we need unprecedented tax reform here in the USA.
In my humble opinion, we should right now go to a flat income tax using the Steve Forbes flat tax plan, and start a process that four years from now ends all income taxation in favor of a consumption tax on new-production goods and services (the FairTax proposal, H.R. 25/S. 13). I cite the following advantages of this change:
1. It would save possibly as much 75 to 95 percent of the US$300 BILLION per year (the current Tax Foundation estimate) now spent on income tax compliance. Sure, it'll put a lot of accountants, tax lawyers, H & R Block, Jackson Hewitt and Liberty Tax Service out of work, but can you imagine what freeing up US$225 to US$285 billion per year for other economic purposes would do for the US economy?
2. It would discourage American businesses from exporting jobs, factories and even corporate headquarters out of the USA for income tax avoidance reasons. That right there would mean millions of jobs coming back to the USA and commercial real estate (both production facilities and offices) would go from worthless to priceless almost overnight.
3. It would encourage American residents to keep their savings and investments in the USA, not put them in an "offshore bank" like all those "banks" in various Caribbean island nations for tax avoidance reasons or put them in the illegal cash-only underground economy. (I've read that American residents and businesses may have put WAY over US$10 trillion into offshore banks and the underground economy for tax avoidance reasons.) That means banks will now have proper levels of liquidity and you have all the incentive to invest in the US equities market, a major plus for the financial services industry here in the USA.
4. It would end by far the most insidious form of corruption in Washington, DC, the lobbying for various "tweaks" to the tax code that could affect as little as ONE taxpayer! It also means powerful companies can't use the tax code to provide "sweetheart" deals to protect their own marketshare, which means far more equality of opportunity for competing businesses (e.g., a company like General Electric can't have the tax code written so it is highly favorable to them--e.g., GE didn't pay any corporate taxes in 2010!).
5. Because the new tax plans I mentioned no longer tax bank account interest, capital gains and stock dividend payments, it would encourage Americans to create their own private "nest egg" for retirement and/or unexpected medical costs with virtually no income tax worries. That could right there possibly save both Social Security and Medicare since it would tremendously reduce the need for both of these government services.
So what are we waiting for?
iPod Touch 4th Generation (4G)I wouldn't be surprised if all that happens is Leopard previews, Mac Pros and Steve rips his shirt off and crowd surfs.
No, I think this is the closest so far :)

Have you seen Windows GUI? It's also almost identical - rows of icons and task bar at the bottom. Did Microsoft sue Apple? No.
Apple sued Microsoft though (rightfully so as they had a very similar UI first).
iPod Touch 4th generation 4GWith full respect for your decisions, if you'll pardon me, I think that's a little bit crackers. :D
How do you know if your machine isn't part of a botnet? Have you eschewed only AV and simply subsist on your router f/wall and software firewall? Only run as user not admin? None of the above? Something else?

You may be right, who knows? There seems to be good arguments on both sides to whether Macbooks get Merom in August.
One of the reasons I want an iMac with Conroe (or any intel processor I suppose) is for Boot Camp, and SolidWorks for uni (plus random games, ie. Quake 4, Doom 3 etc ;)). Other than the fact that my cube would die trying to pull along this extremely demanding application, I am 99% certain that it will not run on System anyway. This is another reason I am wanting a Conroe and the X1800, other than for games, it would be perfect for running Solidworks.
Therefore I don't care what's in the Macbook, as I only need it for non processor intensive purposes, with anything else optional. My motive is purely cost-cutting.
Also, I've looked, and I do not believe Australia has a Refurb section of its Store, and I refuse to buy something from eBay.
Ipod Touch 4 Generation 32gb.I'm waiting after the new year with the release of OS X 10.5 and then possibly getting a MBP. When is the Pairs show? I keep reading September but what are the exact dates? Thanks.
September 12th-16th.
Cool Ipod Touch 4th Generationapple is moving away from osx... its obvious..

EDIT: Spotlight is giving me 288.
oh! looks like you just need to add an asterisk

I did notice that Time Machine really screws up the Sophos program. It will hang on the Time Machine Back up drive and just get stuck
Well. That's no good.

Please go back and read my previous posts.
and?
You essentially say that math, which humans use as a language, is taught incorrectly in regards to evaluating expressions because there is a "right way" of doing it without going into how one should evaluate it.
Order of operations is paramount to understand as it is a fundamental concept yet you state that following the order of operations is wrong in this case...why?

apple could start their own service. like virgin, ampd, boost, and now helio. they all have there own phones and service.
Amp'd is actually owned by Verizon, adnd Boost is owned by SprintNextel, using the same chirping technology as Nextel. Forgot the deal about Virgin.

I don't know where you get your statement than the "iPhone had a higher resolution than macs"
Resolution is a function of both pixel count and screen size. While there were less pixels on the iPhone screen, it had "higher resolution" in the form of higher DPI ;)
However, the person you are replying to is still wrong. The math behind the "retina" display (as explained here (http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2010/06/10/resolving-the-iphone-resolution/)) is that indeed, 300 PPI is the magic number at the viewing distance you usually hold a phone away from your eye in order for pixels to not be distinguishable.
As such, the older 320x480 iPhones did indeed have quite visible pixels (and yes, I can see the pixels on my 3GS just fine).
Why would it be advantageous to ban texting? All these features on phones are simply functions of software, not requring excessive hardware technology, so its not like the phone would benefit from not having it.
Also, 5MP camera? Thats just ridiculous. The issue with all these phones is the lenses involved, not the resolution. Give me a 1.2MP that has some decent glass with it to take a picture rather than some bumped up resolution that is junk when I iSync the iPone to iPhoto :D Beside, the nokia phones that do actually have high resolution cameras are THICK. Over an inch. Im not saying we need the next razr here, but over 1" thick makes it uncomfortable to keep in your pocket.
And I think it will be SIM free too. As posted, we all go blow 200-400 on ipods, why not phones. Beside, if Apple just releases unlocked GSM phones, the carriers have no say. iTunes, iChat, VoiP when the wifi is available, its all open season if this thing isnt branded to a particular carrier.
sure we do. Developer Tools for example. also there are more 64 bit 3rd party apps out there, that I dont feel like looking up right now.
however, your right, consumer apps are primarily 32 bit, and os x apps like ical, mail etc, wont go 64 bit until leopard.
yeah, but we don't know if Leopard will be totally 64-bit anyways (we'll find out soon enough)
Some has to say it:
If MacOSXRumors is predicting it, then it's never going to happen.
