Anyone have their shipment notification yet? When I ordered my mighty mouse it shipped the same day at 8pm and the ship time was the same as the MacPro so I am hoping. I opted for overnight shipping. I was dreaming of getting this tomorrow but at latest they said I will get it Friday.
Fingers Crossed.

Actually, no, I believe it's more along the lines of an example of success breeding lots and lots and lots of admiring / eager people who want to attend their exclusive product showcases, and their resorting to excluding some people to keep such events from turning into crazed circuses.
Besides, I mean, who really wants to go to such an event, anyway? I'd rather just read about it on internet forums like this.
You have a point there. I certainly wouldn't want to attend. But I wasn't saying I would want to. Nor was I saying that any of the eager masses should be able to attend.
The original post by Macrumors implied that this site is shut out of such events. Shutting out representatives sites such as this, which do much to promote Apple products is, I think, to some degree arrogant and perhaps spiteful. This site likes to penetrate Apple's notorious secrecy.
mini long haired dachshundI'd buy in a second, even if I had a Razr.
i think i'll buy a Macbook instead
Miniature Long HairedGreat...until you need to do a reinstall. While you could go 10.6 >10.7, going straight to 10.7 is so much better.
Except when your HD becomes toast...
Currently I can create a DVD from the developer preview of Lion. The installation program is provided as a DMG file, so it is relatively easy to create the DVD. Of course an average user wouldn't find the whole thing that easy, so I suppose Apple will provide some other solution. The option to buy the DVD will of course be available.
Miniature Dachshund PuppiesThis is all making sense to me now.
When they said that a white iPhone 4 would come out in the Spring. I thought to myself, why in the world would they release a white iP4 this late in the cycle when the iPhone 5 would be out in just a couple more months???
Why you ask? BECAUSE THERE IS NOT GOING TO BE AN IPHONE 5 THIS YEAR!
THAT'S WHY!
OMG!
I'm on a 3GS and have been waiting for iP5 to upgrade!:mad::mad:
long haired dachshund puppiesA tablet would be awesome, if it could handle a) my crappy handwriting, and b) equations and the like, since the only reason I would have to use one of these would be note-taking in lectures. AFAIK no tablet software about at the moment can do the latter.
Dachshunds are smart - reallyNever buy an apple product!!!
As soon as you do something new and better comes out!!!
AAAHHHHHH
I am typing this away on my new Macbook, Core 1 Duo; which i bought under the self-brainwashed reasoning that the MBP alone would see 2x2. Why you ask? Cuz I figured hey, the MB JUST came out, why refresh it every 2 months! The MBP has been out like 8 months, that makes sense.
I can only PRAY I am right.
No that my Macbook will be instant crap... I just COULD have waited until september.
Damn you apple...
Don't worry, I say this now -NO MBP CPU UPDATE AT WWDC- or till December for that matter. MBP itself has its own issues to be fixed like overheating, battery life and slower superdrive. I would be happier if they fix these issues instead of putting slightly faster chip and producing more heat and moans. And even if they do, you won't see big difference in performance anyways. So just enjoy your MB while it lasts.
miniature long hairedLet's not forget, Apple iOS encompasses more then just iPhones. If you included the iPad and iPod Touch which both run Apple iOS then Apple's market share is still ahead of Android.
miniature long hairedLet's search the room and then all of us leave together through the other door. There is no reason to split up now until we run into another room with multiple doors.
miniature long hairedJeez, why do people think Apple will make the movie store/movie management part of iTunes? That would be the worst decision ever, the two mediums and two markets are so vastly different they need two seperate apps!
If Apple can just release an iTunes-like app combining Delicious Library style management with playback and the movie store, they've got a winner.
Bungle it in with the music store like they do with TV shows and keep the horrific video management in iTunes to manage them and a lot of people will be sick of it before long.
It could be simple as having two tabs..one for the music store and the other for the movie store.

Hello everyone,
this is my first post, but I've been reading you all for a while now. I'm waiting for the MBP merom like most of the people here, but do you think there a possibility to see new Displays as well at Photokina? Maybe built-in iSight?
Black and Tan Long Hair MaleI could care less about the Movie Store... or a video iPod... I just want to hear the following in the same sentence:
"Core 2 Duo"; "Macbook Pro" ;)
It likely will not happen on Tuesdsay, but I'm going to be very disappointed if it doesn't happen in the next few weeks... I'm not angry and I'm not a whiner - I'll just be a little disappointed, that's all.
Our mini-Dashchunds areI found the sound quality when playing music from the Tomtom car kit (as compared to a cable running from the headphone jack to the aux port) to be a bit improved. I think you get the equivalent of line out via the car kit, which is a slightly different signal from the headphone signal.
My car stereo is nothing special, though, so others might be able to provide a more detailed comparison.
Thanks for that info. I was wondering if I plug an fm transmitter into the car kit and play my music through my car speakers, will incoming phone calls also be sent through the car speakers or the Tomtom speaker? I prefer the phone calls just come through the car kit's speaker alone.
Miniature wire-hairedAnd remarkably inaccurate when I looked myself up. It has a bit of correct information on my parents. I'm actually surprised at how wrong they were since I have a fairly large internet footprint (of course, these guys probably don't have Google's database since they're just skimming).
It's inaccurate because it doesn't track YOUR location, just the location of your nearest Cell Tower.

Not to add onto the whining about merom notebooks, but I thought people a little while back were saying they'd be coming on the apple event on the 12th...
Long Haired Mini DaschundI'm fine leaving my phone un-jal broken. But I think Toyota and other companies should cater to the jail broken community too. Its understandable that Apple would ask. But hopefully it doesn't go beyond asking.
Hmmm, a car company catering to a group largely comprised of teenagers and young adults whom (presumably) have little disposable income? Doesn't sound like the best idea to me personally, but what do I know...
long haired dachshund puppiesi can't wait!! and it's gonna be so hard buying a Macbook tomorrow and not being able to open it til the 7th!

Hello all, I just wanted to make another point about capital gains. Capital gains are applied to the "profits" from sale of something you bought. As I mentioned earlier about inflation, the government could choose to create money rather than impose an income tax. Everyone would keep the money the government would have taken, but that money simply won't go as far because the difference in purchasing power will appear in inflation. So, what does this have to do with capital gains? Well, if I buy a gold coin for $1000 and then sell it for $1500 a couple years later, I would be subject to a capital gains tax. But I didn't really gain anything. As gold critics often say, gold just sits there and doesn't produce anything. What has changed is the value of the dollar, which has fallen because the government has diluted the money supply. This is the reason the stock market is going up, not because the economy is improving.
If you bought an apple on Monday (your cost basis) and, before you bite into it on Wednesday (the point at which you realize gain), the price of apples go up, should you have to pay a tax on the difference?
Do it! Free is good

At http://openforum.sophos.com/t5/Sophos-Anti-Virus-for-Mac-Home/Disabling-Sophos-from-start-up/m-p/1117#M643 in the words of a VIP:
Sophos Mac HE wasn't built to be used for on-demand scans only - it will use more resources than necessary for just this task
----
slowing my Mac to a crawl
Experiences do vary greatly.
At one extreme: users who find SAV better than comparable software from other developers. There are many such users.
At the other extreme: users who find that SAV causes deadlock (requiring a forced shutdown or restart) before the computer can be used. Around http://openforum.sophos.com/t5/Sophos-Anti-Virus-for-Mac-Home/Unable-to-complete-login-after-reboot/m-p/1005#M588 I hope to discover whether a previously known issue was:
a) resolved appropriately (if the number of WorkerThreads was not increased from 4, then how was the issue resolved?)
or
b) overlooked.
Somewhere in the middle: Second and subsequent launches of applications, a sense of hogging (http://openforum.sophos.com/t5/Sophos-Anti-Virus-for-Mac-Home/Second-and-subsequent-launches-of-applications-a-sense-of/td-p/355) by default, on-access scanning excludes archives and compressed files (IMO that's not ideal); if you do prefer on-access scanning of archives and compressed files you may find that some types of application are unusually slow to launch.
Reading File Vault Information The Matrix Data Bank (http://www.schollnick.net/wordpress/macintosh-related/file-vault-information) (highlights (http://diigo.com/0drrs))
each additional thread will take up approx 8Mb of memory
alongside http://openforum.sophos.com/t5/Sophos-Anti-Virus-for-Mac-Home/Unable-to-complete-login-after-reboot/m-p/981#M576 my gut feeling at the moment is that a debatably small memory footprint (4 WorkerThreads, with no GUI to increase the number to a safer 15) presents unnecessary risk to some users.
Personally, I'm disappointed that a respected organisation with expertise in security (Sophos) has not taken care to have their product work reliably, for all users, with a key security feature (FileVault) of an operating system. It may be that only a handful of users are affected, but deadlocks and forced shutdowns are never acceptable.
Security is vaguely to mildly inconvenient, and worth it in my opinion.
+1
For some types of user, software such as Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X does offer additional (never total) peace of mind.
My advice: try it. If you find a problem, feedback to Sophos.
I don't doubt that Apple is possibly working on something like this, but would a professional photographer (who probably is paid very well while working for Apple) really risk future jobs as well as lawsuits (NDA is surely in effect) just to brag to his friend about a new cell phone he saw?
