MacBook and MacBook Pro are soldered. So no, you can't change it.
The iMac and MacMini are socketed.
will there be a third party company that offers these upgrades to consumers?
heat rashes on legs. heatThat takes some balls. Perhaps Toyota can have a say on some Apple product? I thought it was genius of Toyota to do the theme. They probably found the Scion buyer is the same demographic that jailbreaks a phone. Sounds like good marketing to me.

heat rashes on legs. heat rashNot to be rude, but are you really dumb enough to ask this? Ok, I'll try to make this as simple as possible: if I used a fully 64-bit OS & fully 64-bit software, that is software optimized for 64-bit processors, on a fully 64-bit processor, what would the advantage of using that set-up over using a 32-bit OS & 32-bit software on a 32-bit processor?
yeah i'd say that's rude. maybe i misunderstood you, but you never said this. (or if you did, i missed it).
i do not know the technical stuff, but i do know that if you had all 64-bit stuff, then it'd be a lot better than all 32-bit stuff. (i know i should use better termanology, but oh well)
heat rashes on legs. heat rashWhy not compare the sizes?
If you look both MBP are 1" tall with the lid closed while the Sony TX series is 1.12" tall and the SZ is 1.5" tall (at the thickest... which is up near the drive area).
That's not really true of the SZ series either. The SZ ranges from 0.9 to 1.33" or so, and the drive area is in the thin part of it at the front:

Yes but remember Leopard is not going to be only 64-bit, it will run 32-bit and 64-bit applications side by side.
And also that it won't be out til January or later... plenty of time (closer to the 1st of the year) for them to upgrade..
heat rash on legs pictures.I can't believe your BlueAnt is working for you. Yes my phone is a 3Gs. I had other replies to an earlier post that indicated that Apple did not allow some of the BT technology to work on their phone.
I will try and "pair" again to iPhone and see if it works. I agree with you re hitting a button on the visor.

I disagree. The OS on the most number of devices always ends up "winning" (for a lack of a better word.) It has happened time and time again. Windows beat MacOS after a few years due to it being on a wider range of hardware. The same happened with Android on phones. It will most defiantly happen again; if not with Android, defiantly with an OS which works on the same business model and is not tied to specific hardware.
The 'average user' customer likes choice. The iPad provides none. An iPad is an iPad and that is that. Whereas Android provides a wide range of models and sizes and colours and specs.
You're ignoring a huge factor: price. Mac products were more expensive than their PC counterparts. That's not at all true for the iPad. As well, Apple has huge brand cachet and their products are gorgeous to look at and touch.
I'm not sure that choice is going to be a huge advantage in the tablet market as there's not much differentiation that is going to matter to the normal consumer. Sure, there can be different sizes but most people are happy with the iPad's size (no, not tech nerds who demand to have a tablet they can carry everywhere ;)).

In for the unwarranted android hate even though it's a personal choice and impacts our personal lives in no way! :p
those android using smug filthy bastards. we should get together and put them in camps of some kind and reeducate them of the greatness of iphones and terminate the ones who don't oblige to our views :D
Heat Rash Leg rash causes,Please dont call it an "iPhone" that is so... no. if it was called iPhone I dont think that I would buy it. if it was MacPhone Pro or something like that than maybe... ;). No but please dont name it either of those. Come up with something new and original.
How bout PowerPhone.mac!:)
heat rash on legs pictures. inI'm not convinced that my kids are any worse off. I grew up speaking two languages (hearing three) and using different types of measurements. I have confidence in my future children to be able to handle it like generations of Americans have before.
A child's mind is amazingly attuned to learning language. Given the fascinating cultural and linguistic diversity in the world, I am envious. I would love to have learnt more than one language as a kid. It's so much harder to learn as an adult.
But I am not at all envious of you having to learn two systems of measurement. That kind of cultural diversity I can do without! Sure, your kids will be able to handle it, but why should they have to? Because your generation was too stuck in its ways to embrace positive change?
heat rash on legs. heat rashesIt's already available http://www.eset.com/home/cybersecurity-for-mac
Cool, thanks for the info, i didnt know about this product. Although reading the feature list it sounds more like a internet security and windows virus detector then a mac AV. But maybe i'm wrong.
Anyone who has tested it and is willing to share the experience?
(maybe i take a snapshot of my OSX and give the demo a try, dont want to risk it :) )
heat rash on legs pictures.I don't think we'll see these at WWDC unless there are other substantial changes. Going from a Yonah to a Merom chip may be great news, but it's hardly something Steve can crow about on stage. "Here's the new macbook pro... it looks and functions exactly like the old one, but 20% faster. Um, yeah. You already know all about the macbook pro, so there's really nothing else for me to say, is there?"
Trust SJ to be able to say something amazing about that !! That's why he is CEO... he can make the smallest thing look like it's the coolest thing on earth. RDF at full swing...!

Of course, when iPhone becomes available on Sprint and T-Mo, then I'd expect it to have an overall sales ratio of about 2-to-1 against Android. Perhaps somewhat less if those prepaid super-cheap Android phones take off, perhaps somewhat more if Windows Phone 7 eventually starts to steal some of Android's share.
heat rashes on legs. heat rashYet another sign Apple is going to kill the Mac Pro.
You'll see! With Final Cut Pro on it's deathbed there is no way the Mac Pro is sticking around!

Unfortunately, most posters here think Apple always acts in the best interests of its customers. Kind of cute, actually.
If you find it cute, why is it unfortunate? Or were you just trying to be condescending?
I've seen no evidence that MOST posters think Apple ALWAYS acts in the best interest of its customers. Apple generally tries to keeps its customers happy, though, as do all (successful) companies.
I see the tablet as a convergence between a PDA, Video iPod and Remote Mac.
It should connected through Wifi to your desktop computer and have the most up to date info available. You would be able to view everything you have on your Mac and stream it to your iTV or beamers (with the help of a dongle).
It would be great if you could wirelesly connect it to your camera so the metadate is immediately copied to the handheld and you could do some realtime editing of it (by voice perhaps?).
I would love it being made in the shape of a pocket book. The thick part would be a touch screen and you could have a flat keyboard on the inside of the flap for the occational text entry
The 2 most important things for this to succeed would be the power life and effortless connection to other appliances. I don't want to specify each time when I connect something what the appliance is - Cell phone, camera, printer etc - I don't even want to know it is connecting to something - anything of mine that is in the neighborhood should be there and used.
Thank god. I knew Apple know what they are doing. I am happy to be a part of the future. Optical disc media has to be 1tb per disc to be of value.

I can see apple maybe putting an ARM chip in the macbook so it can run in low power tablet mode, but to complete replace the CPU really makes no sense. However lots that the do seldom makes sense, so who knows. The reason I won't be buying a mac again is simply because they are severly underpowered, gaming really sucks on them compared to what you can get on a PC.

Not sure why you guys think you will get a free iPod with a new MBP.. Did you read the Terms and conditions? Where does it list the new MBP ?
http://www.apple.com/uk/backtoschool/?cid=WWW-EUUK-BTS20060801-8EBFY
They did add the Mac Pro so you guys still have hopes to get a free iPod if released in time.
