I feel like im taking crazy pills...I think theres some confusion as to my feelings on the topic. Apple SHOULD include a discrete GPU in all of it's PRO Macbook line. Period. If you want a more exotic upgrade, fine. But to give a high end, expensive notebook integrated graphics is pure rubbish! Now, does Apple make more money by their status quo? Absolutely. Is is the right thing for the consumer? NO.
Harry Potter and the DeathlyIf 10.7 contains the ability to create a recovery partition, wouldn't it be simple enough to also have the feature of creating that same partition on a USB drive (or burn to disk)?
In theory it seems like that could have the potential to be even better than a commercially burned DVD since it could be updated as 10.7.x updates come out. They'd just need to include a user option for updating the recovery partition or not (or best case, have the recovery partition include all the 10.7.x revisions and let power users choose which version is restored).
We don't know specifics yet, but many people seem to be assuming that Apple wouldn't include any way to recover and reinstall, which seems extremely unlikely.
The new batch of postersSemantics. Your argument boils down to the pain of change.
The cost of change. There's a difference.
Again, the real crux of your argument is that people are 'comfortable' with what they already know.
No, once again, it's not about comfort; it's about experience. I learned mostly SI units when I was in college, I'm quite comfortable with using those units - but the industry doesn't use those units. I learned, and became an expert in, the units used by the industry. You would ask millions of engineers, technicians, etc. to throw away years or even decades of experience simply to change a system that isn't broken.
Yes, it's a system that has its roots in the past, but the system still works. There's no compelling reason to change it. There's no efficiency to be gained.

Why use Japanese companies over American Companies. If they are made in China by a Japanese company why would that be cheaper than an American company being made in China? Also if the plants are in Japan they are just as expensive or more to produce in Japan as it is in the U.S. Have you seen any cameras or t.v's made in Japan for the U.S? Japanese people will not buy a t.v or camera etc if it's made outside of Japan, that why they pay much more for products made in Japan. If they are not going to make them in their U.S. make them in China for the lowest cost.
7 dramatic new Deathly HallowsFollowing PEMDAS (Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction):
But you have to also follow it from left to right.
Suppose subtraction precedes addition, like this: 4-5+6, then the answer would be 5 not -7.
Similarly, in this case, division is first so you have to divide first.
This is how I would solve the equation:
48/2(9+3)
= 48/2*12
= 24 * 12
= 288.

My hopes were for smaller iMacs with retina displays. I own a 30" screen and while it isn't a burden, I really don't mind a 20" screen with high res.
The iMac should remain a kind of ultra-compact, semi-portable type computer. 20" should be the biggest, just up to retina. Will they do it this year?
Howabout 800x600?
I was just thinking of my old iBook with that res. Sheesh. These newer computers are making 1999 look like 1926.

Seeing as how the iPad 2 didn't get retina display, I doubt iMacs will.
Imagine the cost of that!!

i think this would make a good revision of the newly rumored 12" MacBook Pro.
The more things that are in the cloud, the closer I get to hitting AT&T's 150GB home DSL (non-uverse) data limit.
I just dropped them for this very reason, went back to Brighthouse networks. 40Mbps no cap. :D

2.16 and 2.33 Merom options
Magnetic latch
MacBook style keyboard
New video card (Nvidia?)
160GB hard drive option
IMO, these are the least that Apple can do to keep up with other high performance notebooks in the market. I think new MBP's will arrive one the same day as Photokina although they may not be highlighted at the event.
