New Black Ops DLC: Escalation,Only in US. For the rest of the World (the northern part of it) summer starts on June 1st and ends on August 31st :)
Really? So we just disregard the ACTUAL start and end times of seasons now? June 21 to Sept 21 is summer.
Black Ops Escalation DLCLAME
$2,499 standard price of Mac Pro ($2,299 for Education)
$2,124 is the lowest you can configure the Mac Pro ($1,962 for Education)
To get it that low, you have to drop the processors from 2.66GHz to 2GHz and and the hard drive from 250GB to 160GB
It's still a QUAD at $2,124. Even if it's 2 GHz, that's still utterly insane, especially when a *single* 2 GHz Woodcrest outperforms a 3.5 GHz Pentium 4 easily IIRC.
and as a sidenote:
MacBook Pro & MacBook processors untouched
 iMac untouched
iPod product line grows more stale by the day
The lack of iMac updates was my greatest disappointment.
Lets tear into each map2.16 and 2.33 Merom options
Magnetic latch
MacBook style keyboard
New video card (Nvidia?)
160GB hard drive option
IMO, these are the least that Apple can do to keep up with other high performance notebooks in the market. I think new MBP's will arrive one the same day as Photokina although they may not be highlighted at the event.
Dreaming really (note 1920 res. hack for PB thread here has over 100k views, Apple get a clue!), but hopefully the delay has more to do with better upgrades, vid chip (Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GTX, 512 MB please), a true HD screen (WQUXGA (http://www.videotechnology.com/0904/formats.html) would be even nicer, 4k res, yeah baby, just the ticket for Leopard and the 17in model), etc. ; than limited supply of Merom's...why put them in the iMac 1st when the profit margin is higher on the MBP's- which are in more need of an early upgrade than the iMac?
Dell already has these features in one of it's expensive laptops (though almost twice as thick, which makes it much easier to implement):

EXCLUSIVE: Leopard Feature Set Leaked

Black Ops #39;Escalation#39; mapIve said it befour and I say it again.
I think ..
The edge-to-edge concept is what we likely will get BUT its not the SCREEN that getting LARGER ... its the PHONE that getting SMALLER ...
the iPhone 5 will likely keep the same screen size but the acual phone and the beziel will get smaller ... there are more non-geeks out there who think that iPhone is to LARGE and incressing its size is not the way to go ...
to sum it up (Expected Roadmap)
iPhone 4S - Release 2011
- Dual Core processor (with 9x GPU (same as iPad 2))
- 32 GB, 64 GB Model
- Full 1080p Camera (8MP) (Backside Camera)
- TV Mirroring (same as iPad 2)
- IOS 4.x
- FaceTime over 3G
- if the iphone 4S (2011) is getting 4G / LTE the name will defently be .... iPhone 4GS . because its both a 4G phone and a Speed bump ..
iPhone 5 - Release 2012
- LTE / 4G Network !!!
- Smaller phone, edge-to-edge beziel but same screen size as iphone 4 iPhone 4S / iPhone 4GS
- iOS 5
- Imporved Front-Side Camera
- FaceTime HD (Require LTE/4G Network)
For Zombies fans, “Escalation”Another option:
they may include an instant-on iOS in addition to an intel OSX environment. Several other manufacturers have done something similar.
lack ops escalation zombieswell i think it'd be great if Apple released this. but i'm not so sure it'll happen. would love it if it did, but i'll believe it when i see it
lack ops escalation mapThe sad part is its lack of focus. The Playbook has, what might be, the best real time OS ever put on the market. QnX is really kick a$$.
RIM is killing it with no idea what to do with it. Program with Air, Flash, Android, C, C++, Java, the kitchen sink.
If it runs Android Apps just OK, will anyone bother to write real apps for it? Instead of having 200 programming APIs on the thing, RIM should get a native email client.
Exactly. That's my take-away. They're so late to the game, they feel driven to make sure they're relevant by trying to support everything.... versus making sure they provide quality support of what they DO offer. If they really wanted Flash and Air, they should have let that be the END of it. Just make Flash and Air work really well, and then require new applications.
And, you forget Playbook ALSO runs Blackberry applications. What's the point of a realtime OS that no one takes advantage of? And they DO require Android apps to be resubmitted with a certificate to App World. My guess is that it won't run that app you bought and ran last year on your Droid 1. So, it's a big cesspool of technology as it stands. I'm curious if it will come across that way in the end... and if all that emulation and simultaneous processing winds the battery down... much.

I'll guess 12", 15" and 17". I read somewhere they're expecting a 12".
The 12" is a unverified rumor to be taken with a large grain of salt at this point. I would think they would just soup up a MB and sell it as a MBP before they made a 12" again. Of course, you never know with apple.

They sold well over 1 million desktops/workstation units last quarter and will surpass that quite handily this quarter.
People who think they know Apple's long term strategy as iOS only know nothing of Apple.
Out of curiosity then, what is the long term strategy of Apple? Educate us.
To make money :p
Lion looks awesome, I don't know why there is so much whining about it.
The Escalation map pack forSurely they can't continue to justify a Core Solo.
I hope not, it seems even Apple are embarassed by them, they only have the dual core models out on the shop floors.
Call of Duty: Black OpsI'm with the future-proofing crowd. As cool as retina displays would be, I just don't think we're gonna see it for another few years.
Duty: Black Ops Map Packits always next tuesday isnt it?
here is to getting up early on tuesday morning, dragging my ass to the computer, and going to store.apple.com to be disappointed by the lack of the promise to be back within the hour.
Unless you are waiting to buy, what do you care? Why get up early? If there are updates, they will be there at the regular time you get up. And if there are not, you won't have gotten up early for nothing. Now that I think about it, why get up early even if you are buying? They will still take your order when you get up.
That being said, if true, this is great news. Apple computers will now be updated much faster than they used to be. People should feel better about buying now, because they should know that the next update is AWLAYS only a couple of months away. You know it is coming and there is nothing you can do about it, so you might as well buy when you need it. If you keep waiting for the next best thing, you'll always be waiting.
And please, for the love of all things holy, retire the Powerbook G5 "joke". It never was funny and it certainly isn't funny now.

GL on getting people to start making ARM binaries for windows 8 which only runs on tablets who happen to be extremely unsuccessful. If Microsoft makes an ARM version of windows 8 for tablets only, then windows-based tablets will be even deader than they are already.
Microsoft could just extend CLR to run on ARM platforms, then a lot of C# projects could be easily ported.
The new Zombies map may beI understand the benefits of the SI system. I honestly think it's a better system and we should use it. That being said, I don't like change. Heck, many people don't like change. I understand our system. I know when I've driven about 10 miles. I'd struggle guessing when I've driven 10 kilometers. Why change now?
And fyi, we actually use United States customary units, which are very close to imperial units.
Escalation Map Pack Leaked AdI can't think of a worse idea!
Apple licensing Mac OS X to Dell.

Don't make me turn you into a mouse.
Ah!
If i remember right, last time you tried we had to take you to the White Witch of Cupertino Mountains to get rid of your tail...
Escalation is due for an Xboxdont forget the mbp revision
that will never happen
I hope you don't mean "never"... but I agree it's not likely to be tomorrow, unless it's tossed in as an aside ("We've released a bunch of great new products today... but what I want to tell you about is how you can use them to access movies through iTMS....").
Someday they'll have to update the MBPs, and I'm hoping it will be soon, because I need a new laptop!
lack ops map pack 2There was a patent a few months ago for touch pads surrounding a screen. That could allow some touch applications without the expense of the touch screen (but maybe I'm behind the times... and touch screens can be done cheaply and well?). Would you need a "scroll wheel" if you had a slide down one side for scrolling?
Another patent was for keys that could have their display change depending on their purpose. A full screen ipod with unobtrusive buttons around the edge that change display to show available options would be interesting. Then again... if you can't input information it's going to limit it's appeal for many people!!
I personally think the key to a usable tablet will be simplicity and being quite inexpensive. My parents wanted to buy a $500 programmable remote but I think they're an exception rather than the norm!

Is Lion available to iOS developers as well? Or is it solely for those with paid memberships to the "Mac Developer Program"?
Only for paid membership to Mac Developer Program.

Legitimize the jailbreak community??
I thought we already got past that. There is nothing wrong or illegal about jailbreaking.
It's software piracy and stealing cell company services that are the problem.
Too bad Toyota buckled.
