Cake Toppers - Welcome to LasThis seems like a very fun game. Sadly, it isn't my type. chrmjenkins, I have missed your very nice narratives. So lovely to read them again. ravenvii, excellent idea for a game.
las vegas sign.Unless you have a progressive scan TV, which propbably means an HDTV, DVD is only 480i, which can be argued to be equivalent to 240p. That way Apple can easily claim their movies to be DVD quality at 320x240. In any case, they can easily offer it at 480p, but compress it more to get the same file size, but satisfy the more numerically obsessed with probably the same video quality. I'd say just download and watch it. See if it looks better or worse than your regular DVDs on a regular TV from about the same distance. No need to focus on just one number.
as Miss Jet Las Vegas,It's also standard in all the current MBPs, except the lowest model.
I don't think that qualifies as being "standard" if they're not all 1GB ;)

Don't get me wrong, I like to have the machines grow in power ever few months better than ever 12 to 18 months like we used to see before the switch.
However I wonder about the financials, how it will affect the inventories every time there is a new processor. Intel is competing for its life with AMD and we all get affected. But so do the manufactorers that have to time their productions so they don't end up with a lot of inventory with the old chip, If they wait too long to release improved machines then the competion gets all the good publicity and gets to be first. If too early, then have to discount a lot of inventory to move it.
Good news can also be bad news, but...... Bring it on, I like it, but watch the bottom line please.:o
las vegas sign wedding.MBP Merom anyone? Appleinsider has always been reliable...so this may happen. This WWDC is gonna be great!
I'm gonna go on record and say they will NOT intro new MBP at wwdc. Some sales of the current MBP are better than none and if they they intro a new one they will not sell any and probably just take pre orders. Not gonna happen. They will wait until late August or early September to announce them when they are actually ready.

This was one qtr, not total devices or did I miss somthing?
No you didn't. People are always confusing this. Also most people believe iOS only comprises the iPhone.

+1 for Apple
Anyone saying they are a monopoly or anti-competitive should actually learn what those terms actually mean before throwing them around.
Haters gonna hate.

Hey bro look on the bright side atleast we have bing now on appstore!
free las vegas sign vector.Wow! What kind of slow-ass lines do you people in Australia have to suffer with?
Thats ridiculously slow. :(
Dial-up. I can't get any form of high-speed internet because my building is so old the phone lines are dodgy, I'm renting so any sort of drilling to get cable is out and wireless broadband is either not here or too expensive.
And I'm in the 10th largest city in the country. My parents, who live in a little country town a long way from anywhere get quite decent broadband speeds. Go figure...

Here's my problem with this distribution method for an OS:
I have 4 Macs in my house. Previously, I'd buy a Family License DVD and go from machine to machine installing it.
If I have to DL it from the App Store, I've got to download it 4 times! I don't care about paying for multiple licenses... I do care about blowing out my internet bandwidth downloading the same multi-gigabyte file 4 times.
There had better be a physical-media option!
Is everyone missing the "Preferred" in the headline of this thread? Preferred does not me "only" or "required" or "mandatory."
We're not yet at the point where digitial distribution is a feasible option for everyone, but Apple needs to take the steps towards it now before the rest of the industry passes by.

Sorry it took so long to respond to this; I assure you it took only a second to Google (this is just the first result I found):

welcome to las vegas nevadaJust gave the problem to my 12 year old brother. Yup, its 288. To all you people who still believe it's 2, I hope you don't deal with math a lot in your careers. It might also be a good idea for you to hire somebody else to do your taxes ;)
So he is the man. Does he do your taxes?:D

Most phone consumers do not get a new phone on the day their contracts expire. That's yet another geek misconception about how the world works.
I'd be shocked if Apple loses "many" of their customers to Android in 2011. Why on earth would they switch when they already have an iPhone that they love?
I'll give you that. I should have said "some." In any case, I still think it's something to consider.

The MacBook is a "consumer" model. The Pro is for the "Professional", although I'm some sort of a "professional", and my MacBook suits me just fine. (I liked the form factor and the keyboard.) Stuffed with 2G of RAM and a 100G 7.2K drive it runs OS X, Windows & CentOS (via Parallels desktop) just fine. It's like a digital Swiss Army knife - I haven't found much it can't do reasonably well. :o
I second this opinion.
There's nothing I've hit that a MacBook can't handle as well as I was hoping for, and most things it does even quicker than I thought it would.
And I'm in that "sort of pro" catagory, as well.

OMG... Sources close to it says, Iphone5 coming. Faster processor.
Really? Wait. I'll close my eyes and wave my hand and say it'll have a nice screen with it. Might be bigger. But not decided yet. Oh... And it'll look nice! And not too different so to scare away people who likes things the same.... *sigh*
Seriously, I hope they release it soon. It'll need to have at least 64GB of space so I can finally get rid of my ipod.
Make it LARGER. Just a little. Give it a 4in screen. Oh and look... Now you have room for that larger battery and bigger CPU and camera.
I BET you if Apple released two TOP END models.
1) Same form factor. But with new CPU only. and 32gb memory to keep the same form factor.
and
2) Another with the same CPU but with 4in screen, larger battery, better camera, and 64gb memory. Of course a bit heavier.
I bet #2 would sell 3:1... Those who is willing to pay that high price of the 32GB model would be the same group of people willing to get the extras. If not for the screen size, then for the battery or better camera. Would I pay $150 more? Yes.
Here's the kicker. That would make it $450. That's slightly less than an unlocked Android that has most of those features NOW. Not 5 MONTHS from now. Granted, it's no iOS system. But it works.

Ehh, purposeful or not (as a sabotage)...not good news for iPad competition:( Which isnt good news for us iPad users...Apple needs constant pressure to release revolutionary products.
Of course not purposeful. They bought what they needed and couldn't care less as long as they got what they needed.
Why would anybody care about competitors getting any components of any kind, if they get what they need?
Don't agree that Apple needs constant pressure.
Any good company gets its pressure from within (to make it's products better, to sell the next generation) and from market research and consumer communications.
I bet they know that MobileMe sucks (I gave it up as there is better stuff for free) and will do a major overhaul.
I think we will see tablets taking a big chunk out of notebooks and become the next note book generation.
The next revolutionary thing. (Dick Tracy watch that works:-)
Could be that we'll all run around with little receivers and get the info out of the cloud via Wifi type "Gas" station network free of specific carriers.
You'd go to such a station and dial yourself into your network as they all have Verizon, ATT , but they'd also have the renegades etc.
These receivers will be able to project anything one would normally watch on a screen onto anything flat (wall , paper , desktop, side of a briefcase, even your hand etc.) so the current panels could become strong projecting lenses.
Lenses can be smaller to project, so development of image sensors is next.
Go RIM , MS and start developing or Apple will.

just my thoughts on it. of course Apple is a secret company so we won't know tell it happens:)
There will be a new iPhone during calendar 2011

Sort of relieved no iPhone 5 announcements, Im firmly bogged down into a 2 year contract.
There will be an iPhone 5 annoucement. Don't believe everything you read.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this so far, but to me it is very obvious the reason why some features will be free.
The iChat and a/v integration on the next iphone.
Obviously iChat needs either a mobile me email address, or an AIM username, or some other less common ones.
Needless to say, AIM is not very popular outside of USA. Everyone uses hotmail or gmail afaik.
If they really want to plug the new iChat, they need to get as many people using it as possible, so therefore the @me email addresses will probably become free, and maybe more features with it
