are people not expecting merom to go immediately into the macbook as well? i don't see a reason for apple to purposely gimp their best-selling notebook when a merom chip is supposed to cost the same as its yonah counterpart.
Why not? They did it with the iBooks for quite some time...
Mother#39;s Day - Austin BenIts absolute crap that a ~$600 Macmini has these options standard, and yet Apples $4000 top of the line machine doesnt. Unacceptable.
No, it means that the base Mini would be $530 instead of $600 if wireless wasn't standard. And the base Mac Pro would be $2570 instead of $2500 if it did. At least you have the choice on the Pro.
Happy Mother#39;s Day!Quite true, I'm pretty sure it was. But at least it's possible somehow.
I don't see how Apple could get away with not having a way to make an install backup. The recovery partition is not good enough. It's a fact of life that hard drives die.
Not to mention why would I want to waste space on a recovery partition anyhow ? ;)
I do hope Apple gets a clue from how the different Linux/BSD distributions have been doing it. Just give us something to make our own installation media as a download, not some glorified app installer.
If they do, great, if they don't, I'll buy a physical copy.
or “Happy Mother#39;s Day” oncan anyone comment on the sound quality when playing music on the iphone via the tomtom kit when it's connected to the car's sound system?
reason for asking: when i use a standard audio cable from the headphone output of my iphone into my car's aux in, the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. i basically have to crank up the volume all the way on both my car system and the iphone to hear anything, and even what i hear isn't all that great.
The sound quality of the Car Kit going through the aux jack is excellent. Much better than coming from the headphone jack.

So I guess we'll all just send you our AT&T Internet Bills when we go over their newly implemented data usage caps?
Absolutely. Send 'em right over and I'll know precisely what to do with 'em.
Seriously, I don't see why anyone would object. This is merely another option for getting OS X. It adds to our choices. This is not right for you? Use the traditional method. Nobody loses.

Im 99.99999% sure they won't update the white MacBooks with Core 2 Duo. Why you ask? Well they doing the back to school promo which is already losing them enough cash with the nano rebate. They also still have a wait or 3-5 days for them. A wait since launch? I highly doubt they will update a product that has a waiting list for it. Milk it for all its worth. The BlackBook is another story though.
MySpace Happy Mothers DayApparently it's all TomTom, I found another site that said they were supposed to receive their shipment on the 17th as well and that the supplier has yet to update them.
http://www.provantage.com/tomtom-9uob-017-00~ATOMT043.htm
This all seems like a huge foul up for TomTom. First they promise to release this thing months ago, and it's still not widely available. Now there are talks of google releasing a free navigation app. TomTom is going to miss some large amounts of revenue with this manufacturing miscue.
I will probably still buy the mount, which in my eyes, for $87 is a great value. I will definitely be waiting for a free google app though. If I could have purchased the mount two months ago I would have bought the app, silly TomTom.

I agree w/ this. Everyone has internet at home and everyone who is so into media, already has a media server. Stuff like air video and streamtome works just fine for streaming media from anywhere internet is available.
People who care so much about accessing media enough to take their time to upload their stuff to cloud can certainly do same at their own house. Is this really for people who don't have internet at home or can't afford nas at home?
Seriously, what is the point of all this? Only time cloud storage works is for group collaboration where people need to share things from everywhere. For personal stuff, personal computer works the best w/ decent internet.
Not everyone has decent internet at home, you know. And those that do might not keep a computer on 24/7. I know that I'm in that situation. Leaving my MacPro on and not asleep 24/7 adds about 400-500 dollars a year to my electrical costs.
I could get the 500GB paid amazon cloud storage account for that much!

The fact there is one Android phone or ten Android phones is irrelevant. Every one of those people could have chose to buy an iPhone. They didn't.
Well, the fact is that there is one iPhone, and ten Android phones. But anyway, of course this fact is relevant. If I have 10 chances to do something, and only one chance to do something else... how often do you think the 1 in 10 chance is going to come around.... maybe 1 in 10 times?
That's like saying the people who *lose* the lottery should have just picked the winning numbers. People choose phones, or lottery numbers for various reasons. The products that tend to be pushed upon them, or are more readily available, are usually the ones that people end up walking out the door with.
The 90% of PC users *should* have just bought a Mac as well. Doesn't mean the PC is better, but there are many more circumstances under which someone buys something; cost, availability, etc.
Mother#39;s Famous Words-Mother#39;sGrey is the new grey at Apple it seems. The stark minimalism is starting to become an issue.
Noooo! Are they making everything gray on gray?!
Don#39;t let words intimidate youWhy not have everyone leave this dead end?
Everyone will but we can get back to the starting room quicker using "Don't Panic's" plan of having you in a separate group.
Happy Mother#39;s Day Card. jpgAbout the cube pro or headless iMac
I was thinking exactly the same thing. (although the Mac Pro is VERY tempting right now.)
Yes, but quiet. Without fans, if possible.
For those of you hoping for a mid-range tower, you're looking at it. Take the processor down from dual 2.66Ghz to dual 2.0 and the HD down from 250GB to 160, and you're looking at a $2124 machine.
I sincerely doubt Apple will introduce any new model to its current lineup of mini/pro, macbook/macbook pro. Your best hope is a supermini.
Whatever. But WITHOUT fans (quiet). Please!

Do you guys think we'll be able to buy merom replacement motherboards for MBP?
TechCrunch likely doesn't know jack about dates or new features in iOS 5. Just saying.

Brackets; 12.
48/2; 24.
*12.
=288.
Lots of votes for 2! Am I wrong?
I can't get to excited about this, it will take me 10 hours to download 2GB
So you're not the target customer. Even that isn't really that big a deal, you can always just pick out your movie at breakfast and have it waiting when you get home from work.
Plus the Mid-Tower Conroe Mac I think.
So why isn't this an option in the poll? I think it's certainly possible.
