When selecting the MBP in the apple store you'll get some info below...
There's this one title where it shows front row... it says "It's showtime" :)

maybe it's a hint from apple :rolleyes: the MBP is the onle one where it says "it's showtime". the rest all say something else like "put on a show"...

ah well I'm just going crazy from waiting for the new MBP's...

With the more frequent processor changes/speed upgrades that goes along with switching to Intel, what is Apple going to do with all the "left overs" of old versions of products?
Hopefully they hired a skilled inventory manager who is adept at these kind of matters. Intels roadmap so far has been pretty solid so they can just reduce manufacturing upon the imminent release of a new product. Any leftovers can be sold as refurbs?

In the most recent Financial call, Apple aid they didn't even have enough chips for MacBooks to keep up with demand. With marketshare seemingly on the rise , hopefully surplus won't be of overly concern

Hey, I remember reading about this device back when it was still a prototype. It seems that the company was founded by some ex-Apple engineers (and it certainly shows... that thing suspiciously resembles a shrunken TiBook). I thought, at the time, that using it to run XPee would be such a waste, and after seeing the final product, I'm definitely sure about it.

If there's one device that could have been developed by Apple, or deserved to run OS X, this is definitely it.

These specs roughly match the early 2004 G4 iBook (it has less 1/4 of VRAM but 2x more RAM!), so with some optimization, I'm guessing Tiger/x86 would run fine on that Trasmeta processor. Sure, it's a tad expensive and the battery life isn't that great, but it has some sweet specs...

Of course, I'm preety sure Apple could do even better, especially with their accumulated experience with the iPod and all those wicked patents, and some Intel partnership and their ULV processors, so I'm very eager to see what they come up with next year... ;)

That's the graphic core onboard the Core i7 die. It doesn't change to ATi graphics when you use something graphically intensive?

We won't see that pie chart as it would make Android look pretty bad. Oh wait, we saw it yesterday. If you compare Android to iOS then iOS has 59% of the market.

I always expected the four existing lines to go merom. It's pretty much a firmware update away from using existing hardware and the form factors used are more geared towards lower power chips.

Apple didn't get involved when this was "the rage" and I couldn't be happier. The idea never became anything more than a niche product in health care, manufacturing, and perhaps education. It bombed. And Apple wasn't left holding the bag on a bunch of unsold product. Another "failure in this companies beleaguered history" as it would be used as fodder in the press.

But now Apple has incentive.

And patents.

And verge products.

Let's force the issue a bit more, what is the value of:

10 - 3 + ( 1 + 1)

If the brackets/parens create some kind of precedence around them you should get the same answer as someone who is giving addition precedence over subtraction.

Everyone's been complaining about the nVidia GeForce 7300 GT...

All I want to know is how it compares to the ATI Radeon x800xt? I currently have one in my PC and it has served me well for almost 2 years; I can play any game that's out today (maybe not at huge resolutions, but with all options turned on). Anyone?

I've never heard of this company -- are they reputable, does anyone know? I've heard all sorts of stories abut these types of things being spyware or some such, don't want to pollute my Mac with any of that garbage!

See my message just after yours, they are not well known because they only sell to very large corporates. Ten years ago I ran Sophos AV on all our company computers. I went for Sophos because its reputation was streets ahead of all the competition. Everyone I spoke to at the time seemed to have some a range of AV horror stories/problems that they no longer suffered after switching to Sophos.

Excellent support, whenever a new virus appeared, Sophos would have an update out within minutes/hours, sometimes this was a temporary fix, with a final version out a few hours later. Telephone support was excellent with phone answered in seconds. Used virtually no resources when running.

As I said in other email, I stopped using it only because I lost my free "employees" license when I left the company that I had bought it for and couldn't justify the �100 + to buy a home license. I'm afraid I found everything else I tried (Norton, McAfee etc) to be very poor alternatives. Eventually settling on ESET NOD32, which while still taking more resources than Sophos, and only having daily updates rather than the minute by minute updates from Sophos, it was still the best of the ones I tried.

And that update is still an iPhone 5 style update. iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 are the same thing. One just refers to a potential marketing name, the other to the generation of the device.

I don't get what is so hard to grasp here. The iPhone 3G was not the iPhone 3 at all, it was the iPhone 2 (and some would argue, the iPhone 1,2).

What exactly are you arguing about here? all i'm saying is this upgrade regardless of what it's called would be a speed/performance upgrade whilst iPhone 6 would be a new design/overhaul like iPhone 4 was. Even Apple are thinking (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/21/apple-seeding-high-level-gaming-developers-with-a5-based-iphone-4s/) along this line

PS iPhone 4 carries a 3,1 numbering system. So it can be argued it is iPhone 3 in actuality and iPhone 5 could carry iPhone 3,2 or iPhone 4,1.

Hmm. I suppose this increases the likelihood of the next iPhone being the "iPhone 4G" after all.

That said, my 3GS contract is up in June. If Apple waits until October to release the next iPhone, and it's not LTE, then I will be jumping ship. Never thought I'd say that, but I'm not holding onto a 3G-only phone until almost 2013.
